Support: FY2008 Title I-A grants. Used to provide a place where the numerical values are being derived from—as not to make them appear as if they are coming out of thin air.
Education finance incentive grant (EFIG) formulas. The formulas used to calculate the allocations based on the past formulas without any changes to the current structure.
CRS Analysis. The source of a majority of the information provided.
These sources are working to give reliability verification. Since this is a very numerically specific source, the integrity of the allocations is pertinent to where the numbers come from and how they are calculated. The sources of this article give the basis of the conclusions represented; however, disclaimers are listed throughout as these are merely estimations and predictions of where the money could go and are not by any means the ultimate end. However, since the appropriate sourcing is provided to give a place of reassuring findings, the information’s integrity is well supported. The by clause of life is imperfect thus the information is just like all other information of predictive value.
Audience and Agenda: The agenda is that of the committee on education and labor because the members are house representatives regarding such views. All of these members are elected into this committee. The audience for this panel discussion is mainly Middle Class Americans because they are the main agenda of this committee. However, due to the nature of the information the audience is definitely people more policy reform based and people who are interested in education and labor altogether as the economy fluctuates into the current downward spiral. Since this is a federal committee where members are elected in, this program is federally funded.
Usefulness: Specifically this article is a good reference to use when looking at school districts in the news that are having problems with Title I funds. Since the issue is still a state-level issue, the information provided by this report is pertinent when viewing discussions of problems on a school-to-school basis. The article is complex and extremely thorough; thus, using the information soundly could pose a problem—especially since it disclaims itself as sound in the first place. However, when talking about future plans the unexpected outcomes are always issues so the information is still useful to take a well measured look into the future for Title I funds. All of the Oak Schools on this list are low on the list of funding in FY2008 thus providing relevance to the article in the news regarding them as finding alternative tax methods to get funding for Title I allocations. The information is helpful when looking at specific schools that are looking for alternative sources because they are not high on list—reassuring the reader they are not falsifying information along the way.
