Bob Gordon, who has the Orwellian title of Associate Director for Education, Income Maintenance, and Labor at the Office of Management and Budget. Gordon is used for a quote section of the blog in order to give the stance of the Obama administration on education. This source is the basis of how the author goes on to make an argument.
Data Quality Campaign is the system the Obama Administration plans to use to fix education. A hyperlink is provided but it does not work.
The support in this blog is to provide a light on what is going on in the government around education debate. The author uses the thoughts of the methods and people involved in supporting them to crux an argument disregarding any sort of effective success with them or the views held about the programs as a whole.
Audience and Agenda: The author describes himself as an expert on education and policy reform of education. The audience (from comments) appears to be people similarly interested and in line with the authors views of education. This seems to be a free expression of what is wrong with the current motions of our government as they take action through stimulus and the different methods being used to achieve better accountability throughout schools. People interested in this are in the education sector, interested in the policy of education or people simply brushing through another blog who find this author interesting (either agreeing or disagreeing).
Usefulness: The blog post gives a good insight into the criticism going around education policy reform ideas. The blog gives a good list of hyperlinks to allow further follow-ups by the reader to get a glance at what is being referred to. Since a lot of the policies listed are not household name, such hyper linking gives a good credibility to the author for backing up his comments. The standpoint in this blog is very useful as it provides a good outlook on how an opposing view of current education policy would argue, which is important to consider when looking at the stimulus package and its funding allotments for education sectors. A lot of direct quotes from politicians are used on this blog and such quotes are accompanied by hyperlinks providing a good breadth of reliability to them. With the hyperlinks this moves from random ramble to an important piece of the puzzle—how individuals are taking the current movement in education.
